  • Play Doh or modeling clay


Teaching the Lesson:

1. Launch

Objective: After looking closely at a school desk, learners demonstrate skill in identifying the parts, purposes of each, and how they work together to get something done.


2. Explore

Objectives: Learners demonstrate skill in the design process (empathize & define, ideate, prototype, test and refine) to design a better school desk for their partner. 


3. Summarize

Objective: Learners will engage in whole class discussion on what it means to design for someone's needs and can differentiate between design for function and design with empathy.
