If you were in charge of the world, what problems would you wish to solve?

Outcome(s): At the end of this lesson, learners will identify two challenges or issues they would like to play a part in changing.


Materials:

  • Wonder Slidedeck
  • Wonder Journal Prompt
  • Student Journals
  • Pencil for each participant


1. Launch

Objective: Learners will imagine what things they would hope to change if they were in charge.


2. Explore

Objective: Learners will brainstorm a list of things they wonder about changing or improving, and after watching a video on the United Nations Global Goals, learners will add to their list with new ideas. Learners will select their top ideas that light them up most and look at the top wonderings of others to find overlapping interests to form interest-based teams.


3. Summarize

Objective: Learners will engage in discussion about what kids can do when they notice a problem. After the discussion, the teacher will read aloud What Do You Do With a Problem? followed by a closing discussion.
